課程概述

本課程係公共衛生學院預防醫學組博士班學生必修,為繼碩士班“預防醫學導論”、“預防醫學實務討論”等入門課程後之深入理論性課程。本課程為下學期的二學分課程,亦為預防醫學組組博士班資格考試必考科目。

若碩士班未修過”預防醫學導論”與”預防醫學實務討論”,建議至碩士班選修上述二課程,以增加基本知識,但本課程無擋修,可與上述二課程同時進行。

This is a required course for doctoral students of Division of Preventive Medicine, College of Public Health. It is an advanced theoretical course after master-level courses, “Introduction to Preventive Medicine” and “Practice in Preventive Medicine”. This course is a 2-credit course in the Spring semester and is a subject of doctoral qualify exam of Division of Preventive Medicine.

For students who did not take master-level courses, “Introduction to Preventive Medicine” and “Practice in Preventive Medicine”, which should be completed and could be taken simultaneously as this doctoral required course.
 

課程目標
本課程包含預防醫學哲學基礎、理論與方法,目的在幫助博士班生對此領域建立深入的認識與瞭解。
本課程分六個單元:
(1)預防醫學的哲學與倫理背景與社區醫學
(2)初段預防:健康促進與相關活動;慢性非傳染性疾病
(3)次級預防:疾病篩檢
(4)參級預防:生活品質、殘障限制與壓縮
(5)決策分析
(6)預防醫學政策
因觀念隨時代演進不斷有新的發展,本課程沒有指定的課本,但是有建議兩本參考書。每單元大約上課兩至三次,分別為老師講授,接著由學生輪流口頭報告,學期最後有期末報告,但無期末考。為配合學校政策及接受外籍生入學,本課程有外籍生時改為雙語或英文授課。

This course includes the philosophy, theory and methods of preventive medicine and aims to equip doctoral students to establish a deep understanding in this field.

This course include 6 parts:
(1) Philosophy and ethical background of preventive medicine and community medicine.
(2) Primary prevention: health promotion and related activities, non-communicable diseases
(3) Secondary prevention: disease screening
(4) Tertiary prevention: quality of life, restriction and compression of disability
(5) Decision analysis
(6) Policy of preventive medicine

As the knowledge development over time in this field, no designated textbooks for this course but two reference books are suggested. Each aforementioned part include 2 lectures instructed by faculties followed by students’ presentation. At the end of the semester, each student needs to write a final report and there is no final exam. In correspond to the school’s policy and allowing international students to take this course, it could be changed into a bilingual or an English course as needed.
 
課程要求
學生在上述每部份課程結束後,需進行課堂報告。
範例: 試用「健康生活品質」與「殘障壓縮」的觀念,舉出一個健康問題,說明各級預防在此問題的預防中之重要性,並選出您認為最符合成本效益(效用、效性)的預防方法。

範例: 試舉出一個未受到適當重視的預防醫學問題,提出如何為這個問題找到合適的預防方法、形成政策、並有效執行。
期末報告: 以英文撰寫,題目以及需繳交篇數由各部分負責老師指定。

Each student needs to do oral presentation after each aforementioned part of this course.
For example, focus on a health issue and discuss the importance of each levels of prevention (primary through tertiary) by using the concepts of health-related quality of life and compression of disability, and choose the most cost-effective (utility and benefit) preventive approach to tackle this issue.

For example, select an overlooked issue of preventive medicine and propose a proper preventive approach, formulate the corresponding policy, and implement the policy effectively.
Final report: Written in English; the topic and number of report(s) will be determined by the corresponding faculty of each aforementioned part.
